What sort of bike do I need to join a group ride?
For safety reasons, we require all riders to have a full road bicycle with clip in pedals and front and rear lights.
Do I have to be riding a Giant bicycle?
No! Although we have a passion for Giant bicycles, any make or model is welcome in our Club.
Why do I need insurance?
Your membership fee provides you with medical insurance any time you are riding (not just when you’re on a Club ride), and third party property and personal cover. Cycling carries some risk, and while safety is always our top priority, accidents do happen. Having insurance as part of our membership fee is great value and great piece of mind.
What are the membership options available (and where does the money go)?
There are several options for joining our Club, starting with a Cycling Australia Ride+ licence for just $99 or Race licence from $233.
Our Club is affiliated with Cycling NSW, Cycling Australia and MTB Australia. These governing bodies handle membership for hundreds of Clubs across the state and country. The majority of your membership fee goes directly to these bodies so that they can provide insurance to us and deliver events and activities that promote cycling.
How fit do I need to be/how fast are your rides?
Our Club is made up of riders of all abilities and experience levels. A moderate level of fitness is all you need to get started. Please contact us if you’d like more details.
How do I join my first ride?
Please write to us here and we’ll be in touch to provide details.
I’m not sure if I want to become a member yet. Can I come for a test session?
Yes, we’d love to welcome you on one of our rides so that you can see if the Club is what you’re looking for. Please contact us here and we’ll provide details.
What regular rides do you offer and when are they?
We run a weekly Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday ride all starting from Centennial Park, ranging from 25 to 55km. Every second Sunday our long ride series takes us exploring different stunning areas of Sydney’s national parks and beyond.
What should I bring with me on a club ride?
An approved helmet is mandatory; sufficient nutrition and hydration to suit the ride distance, dress for the conditions, bring a spare tube, co2 or pump, sunscreen, money for coffee and a happy smile
