Long Ride Series: Wiseman’s Ferry *GRAVEL GRIND*
August 20, 2017
Welcome to a special ‘Gravel Grind’ edition of our GCCS Long Ride Series.
Escape for an adventure on roads less travelled, through the beautiful Hawkesbury River district. The loop will include both sealed road and gravel surface, with opportunities to take some of the most stunning scenery you will see on any ride – these are truly forgotten roads.
Be prepared to cover roughly 100km with a fair amount of climbing, riding at a reasonably moderate pace given the varied conditions. We will be starting and finishing at the historic Wiseman’s Inn hotel, and inhaling lunch and a well-earned beer afterwards.
If you would like to join us you will need to be well equipped….that means two water bottles, two spare tubes, pump/CO2, food, a CX or road bike, a fully charged phone, sunscreen and a strong pair of legs. Robust tires are preferable (e.g. Continental four seasons, Panaracer Gravel King or the like), maybe a bit wider than standard. This ride is suitable for intermediate level cyclists (skills and fitness).
Ride leaders: Jim T
Meeting Location and time: 7am Wisemans Ferry
Approx duration: 6 hours
Est distance: 100km
Average speed: 23-25km/hr (factoring in unsealed surface and hills)
Ask any questions by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org, otherwise see you on the bike!
Catch the rest of our Long Ride series on the 3rd Sunday of every month
